I would have to leave in less than a week. My muscles were tense, and hatred was building in me. I’ve worked from sun up to sun down, increasing my ability to the above and beyond, and finally it was getting to me.

That’s why I walked all the way down here, to the special spring I found. I was soaking the tension away.

My fingers were pruning and I knew I should start walking if I wanted to get back before dark.

Pulling out of the water, I quickly dried and dressed. As I was finishing brushing my hair, a twig snapped.

“It’s somewhere around here.” Freed stated.

I dropped low, waiting for the two people to leave.

Someone sighed. “I don’t doubt you, dude, but I’m doubting you.” Bickslow stated.

In three steps, they both stepped into my safe haven. Neither of them had seen me yet. They would, though.

Quickly, before they had the opportunity to turn towards me, I shot at them, knocking the green haired one to the ground.

“Oof!”

I turned towards the other one, the tall guy, and quickly ran towards him. He was ready, but I was faster.

Down they both went, and on I raced away, my wet hair whipping around behind me as I continued up the mountain.

Sitting with my feet dangling over the cliffside, I watch the sun rise for the last time right here. Part of me longed to stay in this place. If I lived secluded, I could enjoy it.

Now, I’m stronger. 2 months of nonstop, secluded training, and I’m sure that I could hold a fight with the Laxus I met at the beginning of my trip. I’m sure I could handle my own against nearly all of my guild members.

The sun was all the way in the sky, now, and the warmth only brought dread as I stood up. Grabbing my cloak and fastening it around my neck, I grabbed my bag and began the long trek down the old beaten paths.

As soon as I stepped away from the forest I had called home these past few weeks, I could feel the absence of Laxus and his lackeys.

A sigh left my lips at the heavy feeling setting in my heart, walking back to my guild.

My guild.

How I wished I could stay in the forest forever, live with the birds and trees.

But, as happens to all things, nothing gold can stay.

The guild Raven Tail, loomed in front of me. A darkness filled me as I slid inside. People were milling around, talking and laughing. Their actions seemed normal, but the look in their eyes seemed sinister.

I walked in, my shadow stretching long in the darkly lit room.

Slowly, as if a switch was hit, the voices stopped, and eyes turned my way.

My shell had turned cold and calloused, my footsteps echoing in the quiet guild hall.

Everyone watched as I walked with a confidence that I was lacking the last time I was here.

Sitting across from master in the even darker room, no emotions seemed to swarm me. I felt nothing.

“I can feel your power growth. It seems  to have more than tripled from the last time you sat in that chair. That is nearly impossible for a mage, especially for such a young one such as yourself. Unless, of course....

His words hung in the air, waiting to see if I owned any patience. I sat, silent, staring.

“Unless, of course, you opened your second origin.”

Was that the pain I felt in my last days? Or over work?

“Now you need to prove how well you can hold yourself against an opponent.”

Standing in the yard I waited for who Master would decide I face. Other guild members walked out, surrounding where I stood, waiting for the other person I’d face.

Finally, his ‘majesty’ himself walked out along with Flare.

Flare looked at me, her eyes crazed. Slowly, I pulled off my cape, and dropped it behind me. I didn’t want to burn it. I walked closer to her in the coral of people.

I had yet to speak to anyone. It was almost easier resting my vocal cords than talking to these people that hated me.

“Where'd blondie run off to? Think you’re a big thing now, short stuff?”

Her head tilted to the side. A grind spread on her lips.

I got in a stance as Master moved to a place where he could watch the entire fight.

Shifting my legs, I popped my knuckles, looking at her.

I was ready.
